Evening at Shimogamo Shrine π
October 17th, continuing from earlier, I left the Kyoto Imperial Palace around 3 PM. ππΈ Checking the map, I decided to head to Shimogamo Shrine nearby. ππΊShimogamo Shrine is one of Kyoto's guardian shrines and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's much larger than most shrines, with stunning architecture. ππΈ I personally think it's even better than Yasaka Shrine. πΏ ππΊWhen I visited, there were many shrine officials bustling aroundβsome were hanging lanterns, while others were practicing ritual ceremonies. They seemed to be preparing for some event. Inside the shrine, there's also a zodiac guardian shrine, which I found quite interesting. π ππΈ After leaving Shimogamo Shrine, I walked through a forest and arrived at the river delta. Across the Demachi Bridge, there's a long-established wagashi (Japanese sweets) shop. It was incredibly popular; when we arrived at 5 PM, only red bean and chestnut fillings were left. ππΊ I thought the taste was decent, with the chestnut filling being slightly better. π‘ On the other side of the river, across Kawaura Bridge, is Demachiyanagi Station, surrounded by many restaurants. ππΊWe had dinner there before heading back to the hotel to relax in the hot spring. π΅ #JapanTravelTips πΏ #KyotoTrip π #ShimogamoShrine π―
