Everglades National Park 🐊🐍|Baby Alligator Spotting & Wild Adventure
Everglades National Park is the third-largest national park in the continental United States! The north entrance is about an hour's drive from Miami. There are three main entrances: Guy Bradley (at Flamingo), Ernest F. Coe, and Shark Valley—each offering different experiences, so you can pick what suits your vibe! We set out after lunch in Miami, and despite crazy thunderstorms and lightning literally flashing right in front of us ⚡️⛈️🥲, we pushed through! (Almost turned back tho lol) 1️⃣ Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center 🗺️ Grabbed a map and waited out the rain ☔️ The thunder was SO loud—we almost gave up… again! 🦟 The mosquitoes here are NO JOKE. My partner got five bites in five minutes 😳 I was okay (same blood type, but I was wearing long sleeves/pants—so he changed ASAP at the center!). 🚗 Mosquitoes even got inside our car!! We ended up swatting like 10+ once we got in. Not even exaggerating! 🤣 2️⃣ Royal Palm → Anhinga Trail This trail is a MUST-DO! 🐊 We saw so many animals and the views were gorgeous. The boardwalk is super easy to walk. Right at the start, we met a big alligator chillin’ 😎 I thought it would charge at us but it was super calm—still kept my distance though! 😅 3️⃣ Mahogany Hammock Trail Lush jungle scenery—but honestly, it was crawling with grasshoppers 🦗🦗 everywhere! 📍 We wanted to check out Pa-hay-okee Overlook for a full wetland view, but it was closed that day 😢 4️⃣ Flamingo Visitor Center This area is huge! You can camp, have picnics, and we even spotted manatees! And of course—more alligators 🐊 But the highlight was definitely seeing a bunch of baby alligators!!! 🐣 So tiny and magical—all grouped together. Nature is amazing! ✨ 5️⃣ “Dark Swamp” Along the Road This was such a unique sight—you have to find little openings along the road to peek into these mystical swamp pockets. It feels less like a park and more like nature’s own home. 🌿💫 On the drive back, we saw a HUGE snake 🐍 crossing the road! This was my first time seeing one this big outside the zoo. It moved slowly on the road, but once it hit the grass—ZOOM, gone! Consider it good luck if you see one! 🍀 💡 Tips: ✔️ Wear long sleeves and pants—bugs are no joke! ✔️ Bring bug spray!! (Seriously!!) ✔️ Umbrella or rain jacket—weather changes fast ✔️ Download Google Maps offline ahead of time! Have you been to the Everglades? What was your wildest encounter?
