Everyone Who Visits Uji Regrets Not Staying Longer (1) πΏ
Uji is truly a delightful place. Unlike Nara, which is often crowded with tourists and noisy tour groups, Uji is much more laid-back. ππ’ Nara can be quite chaotic, especially in the autumn and winter when the grass on Wakakusa-yama turns brown and thereβs not much to see beyond Todai-ji Temple. πΏ Uji, on the other hand, is a peaceful haven. ππΈ When I arrived in the morning, there were very few people around, and the weather was perfect. I happened to see someone rowing a boat and spent a long time admiring the view from Uji Bridge. ππ’ Even in winter, the sun was warm, and the gentle breeze was incredibly refreshing. Plus, the matcha desserts and matcha noodles in Uji are absolutely delicious! π ππΏ Heading to Nara afterward was a bit of a letdown. I quickly toured Todai-ji Temple and left, feeling rather underwhelmed. I strongly recommend: if you have a full day, spend it in Uji! π ππΈ Transportation: From Kyoto, take the JR Nara Line to Ujiβitβs just a 16-minute ride and costs 240 yen. ππ’ If youβre coming from Osaka, it takes about 48 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on your starting station. π #Kyoto ππ
