Uji Byōdō-in(1)
A Glance Through a Thousand Years: Uji Byōdō-in | World Heritage | Japan Travel 🌟 Uji Byōdō-in, an early Japanese wooden structure, is said to be the ultimate concrete realization of ancient Japanese people's vision of the Western Paradise. 🌿🌟 Established in 1052, it faces the Uji River and looks across to Mount Asahi, with an excellent Feng Shui location. The most famous structure within Byōdō-in is the Phoenix Hall, also known as the Amida Hall. 🌿🌟This building is one of Japan's most renowned Buddhist structures and the only original building among many at Byōdō-in that has survived to this day. It's so significant that it's featured on the back of Japan's 10-yen coin. Initially, Byōdō-in was a villa for the powerful Fujiwara clan and was only converted into a Buddhist temple in 1052, a legacy that has continued to this day. 🌿🌟 The Phoenix Hall has stood tall since its completion in 1053. 🌿🌟 #Kyoto #ByodoIn #JapaneseHeritage 🌟🌟
