📍 Exploring California|Eastern Sierra 🌄
Eastern Sierra is an incredibly unique natural area in California, featuring diverse landscapes including mountains, lakes, deserts, and forests. Located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains, it’s connected by Highway 395, which links numerous stunning attractions along the way: 1️⃣ Mosquito Flats Trailhead One of my top 5 scenic trails! The round trip is about 10 miles, passing 7 lakes of various sizes with snow-capped mountains in the background — absolutely breathtaking! Just be prepared for mosquitos — bring repellent! 🏞️🦟 2️⃣ Convict Lake My favorite little lake! You can go boating, horseback riding, or hiking here. The lakeside trail is relaxing and not too challenging, with unbeatable views. Check out my previous post dedicated to this spot! 🚣🌲 3️⃣ Bristlecone Ancient Pine Forest Part of the Inyo National Forest, this area is home to the world’s oldest living trees — some over 4,800 years old! To protect them, which tree is the oldest remains a mystery — guess if you can! 🌲✨ 4️⃣ Mono Lake One of the oldest lakes in North America. With no outlet, it relies solely on solar evaporation, resulting in extremely high salinity. The most famous features are its tufa towers — especially magical at sunrise and sunset! 🌅🧂 5️⃣ Alabama Hills Known for its weathered granite formations, natural domes, and arches. Over 400 movies have been filmed here, including the Afghan mountain scenes in Iron Man 1! ⛰️🎬 6️⃣ Devils Postpile National Monument A geological wonder featuring unique hexagonal basalt columns formed by volcanic activity hundreds of thousands of years ago. The short trail leads to a viewpoint at the top of the columns. 🌋🔺 Have you visited Eastern Sierra? What’s your favorite spot?
