Exploring Citrin | A Michelin Star Restaurant in LA with Mixed Feeling

Tucked away in Santa Monica is the "former" one-Michelin-starred Citrin, sister restaurant to the two-star Melisse. Reservations are easier to secure here. The entrance is quite hidden β€” we wandered a bit before finding the door. Valet parking is available, and the patio area (where we sat) was cozy, with outdoor heaters keeping us warm in winter. We opted for their tasting menu highlights and paired them with cocktails. πŸ₯š Egg Caviar β€” Rich in flavor, though it costs an extra $25. 🐚 Scallop β€” Fresh and well-executed, with a special sauce. Better value than the caviar egg in my opinion. 🦞 Lobster Pasta β€” A signature dish with light truffle foam β€” aromatic and satisfying. πŸ₯© Ribeye Beef β€” Tender and flavorful, highly recommended. 🦌 Venison β€” Unfortunately, a letdown. The meat was gamey and poorly seasoned, hard to understand why it came with an upcharge. πŸ‘ Dessert β€” One featured peach with ice cream, light and pleasantly sweet. The service was attentive β€” staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and gave helpful suggestions. The chef and manager also checked in with guests during the meal. Overall, while some dishes truly impressed, the venison was a major miss. If you’re curious about the Michelin atmosphere, it could be worth a visit. But if consistent food quality is your priority, you might want to think twice. With tip, it came to around $240 per person. #FrenchCuisine #FineDining #MichelinRestaurant #LosAngeles
