Exploring Cologne|The Best €12 I Spent

It was on a ticket to Museum Ludwig 🎫. On a weekday visit, there were barely any people, so I rented a €3 audio guide and spent a peaceful day immersed in art. Art should be experienced in person. Standing in front of these masterpieces—ones you’ve only seen on screens, in magazines, or books—makes you realize you’ve never truly seen them before, only imagined them. One of Dalí’s works, The Station of Perpignan, was featured on a poster outside, and who would’ve thought it would take up an entire wall! As for Picasso’s pieces, they didn’t evoke much in me—perhaps because the impact of studying them in elementary school art class was already overwhelming. Klein Blue, when displayed solo on a white wall, seemed rather ordinary. But paired with a ticket in pure yellow, I finally understood the power of complementary colors and how they stand out. Paint-by-numbers isn’t exactly new—Andy Warhol was already playing with this “Do It Yourself” coloring game back in 1962. For me, visiting an exhibition is like reading a book. There’s no particular meaning to it—just the profound feeling of connection. When I, as an individual, can resonate with someone so distant through their art, it evokes a precious mix of both greatness and insignificance. Perhaps, that’s the true beauty of civilization. #CologneTravel #MustVisitMuseum #LifeJournal #HumanCivilization #KleinBlue #MeetingPicasso #MeetingDali
