🍰 Exquisite Pastry Shop | Asheville, NC | Great Smoky Mountains
This bakery in Asheville was a lovely accidental find by my sister—we visited the next morning and it totally lived up to its 4.6 Google rating! 🌟 📍 OLD EUROPE PASTRIES 18 Broadway St, Asheville, NC 28801 High customer flow—you might need to wait for a seat. They offer mostly classic European pastries: Napoleon, Opera Cake, Éclair, Tiramisu, etc. By the time we arrived, the éclairs were already sold out 😮—clearly a popular pick! The crowd favorites among my friends were the French Creamy and the Hazelnut Napoleon. 🧁 My reviews & recommendations: ✨ French Creamy – So interesting! Moist cloud-like cake with light cream, sandwiched between two crispy pastry layers. Delicate texture—every component works well. Could be even better with a tiny bit less moisture. 🌰 Hazelnut Napoleon – Above average but didn’t fully meet expectations. The hazelnut cream was rich and aromatic 👍, but the pastry layers were softer than expected—especially the bottom ones. Maybe a creative twist? Still worth a try if you're in the area! 🥧 Savory Egg Pie – Really tasty! Filled with squash and spinach—savory and satisfying. Heated up nicely by the staff. Perfect breakfast pick! 🍰 Tiramisu – More of a “tiramisu cake” than the classic version. Good coffee cake vibe—cocoa flavor is light, but the sponge is soft and well-made. All their cake bases are great, honestly! 🍋 Lemon Bavarian – A refreshing choice if you’re ordering multiple items. The mix berry jam is tangy but not overpowering, and the cheesecake layer balances it well without being too sweet. 🎂 Opera Cake – Ganache could be more aromatic, but the cake soaked in syrup was delicious. ☕ Coffee – Quality brew! Perfect with breakfast. The barista was skilled and quick. Highly recommend the London Fog if you love Earl Grey—so comforting on a cold morning! ❄️🫖 💰 Prices are reasonable and ingredients feel quality. Highly recommend if you’re around Asheville and craving sweets! #DessertLover #GreatSmokyMountains #AshevilleEats #NCFood #PastryShop #FoodReview #CoffeeTime #NapoleonCake #Tiramisu #TravelEats
