First French Meal in LA — Totally Blown Away! 🇫🇷✨
After two years in LA eating Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai—everything but French—I finally tried it, and wow! I’d only had French once before in Boston, but this spot in DTLA completely won me over. We ordered the tasting menu because everything looked amazing. 🦆 48-Hour Duck Leg Confit Crispy outside, tender inside, served with pumpkin purée and roasted pumpkin. Topped with something that looks like caviar but is sweet and not fishy—loved it! 🧅 Onion & Shallot Soup Sweet and rich (unlike the tangy version I had in Boston), topped with melted cheese and soft bread inside. So comforting! 🐌 Traditional Burgundy Snails I had a bad memory of eating six alone in Boston, but these were irresistible. The green herb sauce was perfectly balanced. 🍷 48-Hour Beef Bourguignon Good, with a subtle red wine flavor and a tangy sauce served with bread for dipping—solid but not mind-blowing. 🥚 Oeufs Mimosa (Deviled Eggs) Ordered separately—topped with truffle mayo. A tasty bite! 🍮 Vanilla Crème Brûlée Crisp caramel shell over smooth, rich custard. Sweetness was just right, though the creaminess got a bit heavy toward the end. 🍫 Profiteroles 72% dark chocolate sauce (a tad bitter for me) over vanilla ice cream-filled puff pastries. The atmosphere was romantic and candlelit—vibes absolutely impeccable ✨ 💰 $50–100 per person — perfect for dates or anniversaries! 📍 L'APPART by AIR FOOD 541 S Spring St Unit 112/113, Los Angeles, CA 90013 📅 Open Wed–Sun (closed Mon–Tue).
