🛶 First-Person View: Kayaking at UCLA & Meeting a Seal! 🦭

Huge thanks to UCLA Extension for organizing this kayaking event! All UCLA friends can visit the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center anytime (except special closures) for FREE kayaking experiences!! 🎉 This was my first time kayaking – though I’d tried dragon boating before back in Guangzhou. Starting with a two-person kayak made me think kayaking might be a “1+1 > 2” sport – with much less effort than dragon boating, we glided really far! Sadly, I didn’t film that part… Maybe it was also because the noon water was so calm. After an hour, I still wasn’t satisfied! I said goodbye to my partner and tried a solo kayak – the wind was strong, and I had to paddle hard to steer where I wanted. Being alone on the water made me a little nervous. Suddenly, a big dark shape swam right past me and gently bumped my kayak – I almost dropped my paddle! 😱 It was a seal!! I couldn’t believe I’d encountered a little seal so far from home, in such a beautiful place. I was so moved I cried right there! 🥹 My Pocket 3 took too long to start up, so I missed capturing many magical moments – you’ve really got to see it live! Have you ever had a surprise wildlife encounter while kayaking?
