🥢 Fong Asian Dining – A Chinese Spot in Southern Salt Lake City

Trying to avoid highway traffic during rush hour on a weekday, we looked for a Chinese restaurant near Lehi Outlet. According to Xiaohongshu, this spot in American Fork serves authentic Chinese food at affordable prices, with a chef from New York and all that hype. We ordered: Tiger Skin Green Peppers Cumin Lamb Kung Pao Scallops Here’s the real deal 🚫 The Kung Pao Scallops were the biggest letdown – not the plump scallops shown on the menu, but tiny scallops (the kind you get at cheap hot pot buffets), drowned in a sweet, Americanized kung pao sauce with thick gloopy starch. 🌶️ The Tiger Skin Peppers were fried nicely, but again, the sauce was overly thick and sticky. ✅ The Cumin Lamb was the winner – seasoned well and tasted authentic, though the portion was a bit small (as pictured). We spent over $60 after tax and tip and left about 60% full. Honest take: If you live in southern SLC and don’t want to drive to Chinatown, this is still a decent option. Despite the flaws, the flavors are on par with other Chinese restaurants in Salt Lake, portions are average, it’s never crowded, and most dishes are under $20. A practical choice for a quick weekday takeout when you don’t feel like cooking! #SLCFood #SaltLakeCityEats 🥡✨
