Food Review|Sichuan Restaurant Moon Bay Near Irvine

Moon Bay is located in a small plaza — easy parking, but the dining area is pretty cozy. 📍 20048 Santa Ana Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 ⏰ 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM | 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM 🐖 Braised Pork with Abalone – $22.99 Flavorful, but the lean meat was a bit dry. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 🥦 Dry Pot Cauliflower – $16.99 Delicious and goes great with rice! Could be spicier though. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🥔 Sour & Spicy Potato Strips – $12.99 Could use more tang, but still tasty. Worth ordering if you love potato dishes. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨ 🐷 Pepper & Pickled Veggie Stir-Fried Pork Kidney – $16.99 A table favorite! The kidney was cleaned well, cooked just right — tender and full of flavor. The pickled veggies were also delicious. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not Recommended: 🐟 "Water-Boiled Two Styles" (fish + pork intestine) Pretty average — fish and intestines just boiled together without much harmony. 🐂 Stir-Fried Beef with Pepper & Onion & Twice-Cooked Pork Both looked almost identical. The pork was sweeter; the beef was tender, but neither stood out in flavor — no one at our table really enjoyed them. 💰 Around $25 per person — affordable, but the food is just okay. Not worth a special trip. Though labeled as Sichuan cuisine, it tastes more like an Americanized version. On a Friday night, there was only one server, so service was slower — but he was friendly and patient.
