Food trip-fried chicken, udon and matcha in one go
🍗 Futago Udon & 🍵 Kyo Matcha: Boston’s BU Area Food Crawl—Fried Chicken, Udon, and Matcha Sweetness Tired of cooking lately? Me too. With the weather cooling down, I hit BU’s “food street” for a little feast: crispy chicken, slurp-worthy udon, and a sweet finish. Perfect for a lazy, delicious afternoon. 🍜 Futago Udon: Thin, Crispy Chicken & Udon That Hits the Spot This spot does things a little different—and I’m here for it. Fried Chicken: 🍗 Not the thick, heavy chunks you’re used to. These are thin, delicate slices—light, crispy, and ideal for topping your udon. No greasy overload, just crunchy goodness. Tantan Udon: 🌶️ My favorite. The broth? A dreamy mix of sesame paste and spicy red oil—rich, fragrant, and just the right amount of heat. Slurping this up? Pure comfort. Niku Udon: 🥩 Tender beef and brisket that melt in your mouth. The broth is clear but leans sweet-salty—simple, hearty, and satisfying. Uni Seafood Udon: 🦐 At $30, it’s pricey, but the seafood portions are generous. The broth tastes like a thinned-out creamy pasta sauce—interesting with the udon and seafood, but a little heavy on its own. Still, a unique twist worth trying once. 🍵 Kyo Matcha: Sweet Endings (With a Catch) Heard this place blew up when it opened, so we stopped by for dessert. Towel Cake & Ice Cream: 🍰🍦 Both solid—fluffy, creamy, and just sweet enough. Matcha (The Star?): ☕️ Eh. The main matcha flavor was underwhelming—not fragrant or bitter enough. Next time, I’m sticking to the desserts. Overall, a solid crawl: savory, satisfying, and zero cooking required. 📍 Futago Udon: 508-512 Park Dr (BU area). 📍 Kyo Matcha: 1010 Beacon St, Brookline. #BostonFoodCrawl #UdonLovers #MatchaDesserts
