Fukuda Art Museum in Kyoto πΈ
Mountains Facing Rivers, Bamboo Reflecting the Moon: Fukuda Art Museum in Kyoto πΈ π’π The Fukuda Art Museum, a private museum that breathes in the essence of mountains and rivers, was established by Yoshitaka Fukuda, the president of Aiful, Japan's largest consumer finance company. His eldest daughter, Mitsuko Kawabata, serves as the museum director. πΈπ Since Fukuda was born and raised in Kyoto, he conceived the idea of building an art museum in 2003 and began to put it into action in 2012 with the philosophy of creating a "museum that will last 100 years." πΈπThe site covers approximately 1,986 square meters and houses around 1,500 pieces of art. The designer is Koichi Yasuda, who also designed the Hakone POLA Museum. π’π The landscape was planned and designed by MLS, Inc., and the construction was carried out by Shigematsu Kato, a landscaping brand favored by the Japanese Imperial Family. Considering the site's superior natural conditions, Mr. Mitsuya not only used Arashiyama as a distant view but also incorporated the Oi River into the design, using its slow-flowing water as a mirror to reflect the surrounding scenery. πΏ πΈπThe Oi River winds around the foot of Arashiyama. In spring, it is gentle with cherry blossoms, lush with the abundance of the mountains, and lively with the excitement of rafting. πΈ #Kyoto πΊπ
