Germany 🇩🇪 | Wolfsburg 🚗 | Autostadt (Volkswagen Auto City)
Surprisingly, this is the 38th German city I’ve visited! General Introduction: There are three main attractions and four ticket types, all bookable on the official website. 1️⃣ Day Ticket – Basic entry to the Autostadt. 2️⃣ Overview Tour – A guided walkthrough of the architecture, history, and design philosophy. 3️⃣ Tower Tour – A visit to the iconic car delivery tower where vehicles are stored before handover. 4️⃣ Factory Tour – A behind-the-scenes look at the production line (located outside the Autostadt, so no Day Ticket needed). ⚠️ Note: Germans don’t work on weekends, so the Factory Tour isn’t available then. I took a 1-hour train from Berlin (about the same as my daily commute 😅) and scheduled tours 2 & 3 for morning and afternoon. The rest of the time, I explored the car museum (Germans really know their cars! 🚘) and the brand pavilions—like a mega 4S store for all VW subsidiaries. During the Tower Tour, I was the only one in the group! The guide, Ms. Alexandra, had worked/studied in China and spoke Mandarin. She even knew Chinese history—like the Santana sedan (which many Gen-Z might not recognize 🚖). She greeted me in Chinese, and I replied in German, which instantly broke the ice. She shared fascinating stories about VW’s early days in China, like how an unannounced Shanghai delegation showed up at the factory, leading to a historic partnership. From the tower’s top, she explained Wolfsburg’s urban planning—how it balances industry and livability (green spaces! 🌳), and why it has rare-for-Germany high-rises. A German IT worker there even gifted me a warm "Welcome!" souvenir. If you visit, say hi for me! 👋 📸 Shot on: July 6, 2025 📱 Device: iPhone 15 Pro ©️ Flyaber 2025 #AvGeekLife #EuropeTravel #IndustrialArchitecture #CarCulture #Autostadt #Volkswagen #Wolfsburg
