Germany Town Tour ∣ Stop 6: The Iconic Deutsches Eck in Koblenz 🇩🇪

Our journey along the Middle Rhine brought us from Rüdesheim to Koblenz, cruising past charming riverside towns until we reached the legendary Deutsches Eck (German Corner)—a dramatic spit of land where the Moselle River meets the Rhine. 🏰 The Monument with a Turbulent Past The centerpiece is the equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I, Germany’s first emperor. The original 19th-century bronze was destroyed by WWII artillery in 1945 (only the emperor’s head survives, now displayed in a local museum). The current statue, erected in 1993 amid debate, symbolizes resilience and national identity. Standing beneath it, I felt a childhood dream come true—this iconic "river angle" had lived in my imagination for years! 🌊 Where Two Rivers Kiss Unlike Chongqing’s striking Yangtze-Jialing confluence, the Rhine and Moselle blend seamlessly here—no visible divide, just a powerful union of waters. 🧱 Berlin Wall Fragments & Cable Car Adventure Nearby, three segments of the Berlin Wall stand as a testament to Germany’s reunification. For epic views, take the cable car 🚡 to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress across the river. This 19th-century stronghold (one of Europe’s mightiest!) overlooks Koblenz and the Deutsches Eck. 🌍 A UNESCO World Heritage Site (2002) This landmark isn’t just scenic—it’s a piece of living history. #GermanyTravel #Koblenz #DeutschesEck #RhineRiver #WorldHeritage #TravelDreamsComeTrue ✨
