Gio-ji Temple ๐ธ๐ฟ(2)
The temple contains what is said to be the tomb of Gio, Gijo, and Toji, ๐ธ๐บ๐ฟ known as the Hokyoin-to pagoda. It is said that after coming to this Gio-ji Temple, Hotoke Gozen returned to her hometown in Ishikawa Prefecture and was buried there. ๐ธ๐บ๐ฟ This story also reflects the fleeting nature of women's destinies during that era, as well as the impermanence of worldly affairs and the inevitable decline of those in power. ๐ธ๐บ๐ฟ The temple's serene environment, with its garden, greenery, and moss, is indeed a beautiful place that Gio chose for her monastic life. ๐ธ๐บ๐ฟ #KyotoTravel ๐ธ #Arashiyama ๐
