Gold Coast Travel
Gold Coast | Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is so worth a visit! 🐨 There’s a Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Gold Coast—if you love koalas 🐨 and animals, you have to check it out! I highly recommend it! ❤ Not only can you hold a koala for photos here, but there are two exclusive up-close koala experiences: Breakfast with Koalas and Arvo Tea with Koalas (enjoying breakfast or afternoon tea with koalas). I chose breakfast, which runs from 8-9 AM—since the sanctuary normally opens at 9 AM, it’s like getting an extra hour to explore and meet the koalas before the crowds! 🎉 Booking details: It costs $99 per person, which includes a breakfast (with several options to choose from, plus a drink on arrival), a full sanctuary ticket, a keeper-led talk about koalas, up-close access to pet three koalas, and a professional photo of you holding a koala—total value for money! 💰 They usually close this experience on Thursdays and Fridays, but we got lucky: during school holidays, they added extra slots for those days. On the day we went, only three of us joined the breakfast—basically a VIP experience! 🎉 The keeper chatted with us the whole time and let us pet different koalas. Since each koala “works” for only 15 minutes, they brought out different ones to meet us during breakfast—all of them were so cute!! The younger ones were especially adorable, totally charming! 🥰 Plus, the sanctuary has a kangaroo area where you can freely pet the roos wandering around. They’re super friendly and even hang around you. 😊 I was worried they might kick (like in some videos), but they’re actually really gentle! You can buy kangaroo food to feed them too—joeys’ fur is so soft! 🦘 Another highlight is the animal hospital demonstration, which runs twice a day (check the sanctuary’s schedule—we caught the 11:30 AM session). It’s the largest animal hospital in the Southern Hemisphere, treating injured or sick animals from all over. During our visit, they treated an injured snake 🐍—if you’re lucky, you might see them caring for koalas! Summary: The sanctuary isn’t huge, but the up-close, friendly interactions with animals make it special. It was my first time petting a kangaroo and a koala! 🥳 Currumbin has tons of shows and activities throughout the day—grab a schedule when you arrive (events don’t overlap), perfect for families! #CurrumbinZoo #CurrumbinWildlifeSanctuary #CurrumbinWildlifeHospital #GoldCoastTravel #HoldAKoalaGoldCoast #HoldAKoala #AustraliaKoalaExperience #KoalaPhotography
