Greensboro Food Log | Saving These Gems So I Don’t Forget Them

I’ve tried so many great spots in Greensboro, so I’m jotting them down to make sure I can find them again later! From budget-friendly student spots to amazing Asian cuisine, each place has a reason to visit again and again. Here are my top picks—follow this list and you won’t go wrong! 😋 1️⃣ Happy Bowls (Student Essential! Affordable & Filling) Located right next to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, this spot is basically a student cafeteria—super cost-effective! 🥣 The Poke Bowl comes highly recommended: fresh sashimi is piled on top of rice, paired with avocado, seaweed flakes, and house sauce. Every bite is fresh and light, with a hint of ocean sweetness. Don’t miss the tempura shrimp and salt & pepper chicken either— the tempura shrimp is crispy outside and tender inside, while the salt & pepper chicken has a crunchy coating and juicy meat. Dip them in sauce for extra flavor—perfect for a cheap, filling student lunch. 2️⃣ Pho Hien Vuong (My Favorite in GSO! Asian Food Heaven) this place is hands down the most amazing spot I’ve tried in Greensboro. It’s labeled an “Asian fusion restaurant,” but every dish hits the mark! 🌟 The curry series is a must-try—choose from yellow, red, or green curry: Yellow curry is completely non-spicy, packed with rich coconut sweetness; red and green curries have just a tiny kick of heat, totally manageable for those who don’t like spice. At $22 per curry, the portion is huge—thick coconut sauce coats chicken/vegetables, and it’s so delicious with rice that you’ll want to finish every last bite (no greasiness at all!). Their tom yum soup is also authentic, with a perfect balance of sour and spicy—one sip and your appetite will kick into high gear. 3️⃣ Cheese Cakes by Alex (Dessert Lovers Rejoice! Amazing Cheesecakes) This shop specializes in cheesecakes, and every flavor is irresistible! 🧀 The caramel-topped cheesecake is a standout— a thin layer of caramel adds a hint of bitterness to cut through the cheesecake’s sweetness, and the texture is so creamy it melts in your mouth. Also try the pumpkin and sweet potato flavors—they’re full of fall vibes, not too sweet, and leave you feeling warm and happy. Pair with an iced Americano to balance the richness—pure bliss! 4️⃣ Van Lio (Authentic Vietnamese Pho—Cheap, Large Portions) Don’t miss this spot if you love Vietnamese pho! 🍜 The Vietnamese beef pho is the star—$11 for a massive bowl that’s almost too big to finish. The broth is slow-simmered beef bone soup, so flavorful you’ll want to drink three bowls. The beef slices are thin and tender, and the rice noodles are chewy and fresh. Their Cantonese-style sausage is also great—salty, savory, and perfect with pho. Dine-in and you’ll get free pickled radish sides (sweet, tangy, and refreshing). If you love them, you can buy a big jar at the front desk to take home. 5️⃣ Poke Bowl (Authentic Hawaiian Flavors—Sashimi Lovers, Go!) This spot specializes in poke, with true Hawaiian-style flavors! 🥢 A poke bowl costs around $13— the sashimi is so fresh you can taste its natural sweetness. Customize your toppings: avocado, mango, seaweed, fish roe… pile it all on rice or salad, then drizzle with your favorite sauce (I love teriyaki + wasabi sauce). Every bite is satisfying—if you love sashimi, this is a must-visit. 6️⃣ Hops Burger Bar (NC’s 1-Ranked Burger Joint! Super Popular) A friend told me this is the top-ranked burger spot in North Carolina—every time I pass by, there’s a long line out the door. They say you have to wait over an hour to get a table! 🍔 I haven’t tried it yet, but the crowd alone tells me it’s worth it. Next time I’ll arrive early to line up and taste this “legendary best burger”—hope it lives up to the hype! #GreensboroFood #NCFoodLog #StudentEats #AsianFood #DessertLovers #BurgerSpot #PokeBowl
