๐ Griddle & Rice โ New Indonesian Brunch Spot in South Philly ๐ฎ๐ฉ
A newly opened Indonesian brunch cafe โ just over a month old โ tucked away in South Philly along East Passyunk Ave. Walking there, I realized I rarely explore southwest Phillyโฆ and indeed, there wasnโt much to see around ๐ . But this little corner spot is warm, cozy, and cute, with a small kitchen where five staff were bustling โ still feels like a neighborhood gem. The place is compact but the menu is surprisingly varied (many breakfast items are morning-only). Closes at 7 PM โ we arrived at 6:30 PM and there was still a line! We werenโt very hungry, so we just grabbed a few things: ๐ Chicken cutlet rice โ huge portion, comes with a customizable spice level ๐ถ๏ธ. The chili sauce was perfectly matched! ๐ Beef meatball noodle soup โ two giant fried wontons, tofu, and beef meatballs. One meatball had a whole quail egg inside โ such a nice surprise! ๐ข Grilled lamb skewers โ well-spiced and tasty. ๐ง Indonesian milk tea โ slightly soy-milk flavored, reminiscent of โsoy milk jade unicornโ โ sweet but not overly so. ๐ Matcha strawberry drink โ also good, not too sweet. Everything was delicious! Drinks exceeded expectations โ I thought theyโd be too sweet, but both were enjoyable (though still rich enough to keep me awake till 5 AM ๐ ). The flavors reminded me of SkyCafe near my place, but the ambiance here is nicer. I definitely want to come back early to try their breakfast egg burger ๐ฅ๐ and their pastries! #Philly #PhillyEats #IndonesianFood #BrunchSpot #GriddleAndRice #SouthPhilly #FoodieFind ๐ธ
