Griffith Observatory Guide: Photos, Transport & Tips π
One of my favorite experiences in LA was visiting the Griffith Observatory! Free entry, no reservation needed β just pure movie-like views π¬β¨ I went around dusk and got to experience daylight β golden hour β twilight β city lights β starry nightβ¦ all in one visit! π Highlights π Free admission (only planetarium shows require tickets: $10/adult) π₯ Iconic filming location from La La Land β super photogenic 360Β° views of Los Angeles from the hilltop π β° Opening Hours Closed Monday TueβFri: 12 PM - 10 PM SatβSun: 10 AM - 10 PM β οΈ Last shuttle also departs at 10 PM β plan accordingly! π Transport Tips (Very important!) π Drive: Parking is very limited β nearly impossible during peak hours π Rideshare: Most convenient β drop off right at the entrance π Free Shuttle: Take Metro Red Line to Vermont/Sunset Station β find DASH bus sign β direct shuttle to the observatory (also runs downhill) π Personally recommend Metro + shuttle β way easier than driving! πΈ Photo Spots You Canβt Miss 1οΈβ£ Main lawn: Perfect shot with the white domes and blue sky βοΈ 2οΈβ£ Back terrace (sunset spot): Arrive early for a good view! I found a less crowded spot on the second-level ledge near the dome β ideal for golden hour pics π 3οΈβ£οΈ Side platform: Best view of the Hollywood Sign ποΈ 4οΈβ£οΈ Night views: City lights + stars + observatory glow β use a wide-angle for epic shots! π π Telescope Experience Two large free telescopes on the roof (be prepared to queue!) Smaller telescopes on the lawn β perfect for moon and planet gazing πβ¨ π‘ Tips Bring a jacket β it gets windy at night! π§₯ Recommended flow: Daytime photos β sunset β night views β planetarium show (if booked) Arrive early to secure the best photo spots at sunset! #GriffithObservatory #Los Angeles #LATravel #TravelTips #FreeInLA
