Had Such a Happy Meal! OC Korean BBQ – Kyung Bok Kung

Address: 7801 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620 (Near Knott’s Berry Farm 🎢) Got lucky picking among Buena Park’s many Korean spots—this charcoal BBQ meal hit all the right notes. Hands down the highest overall-rated Korean meal I’ve had in years. 🏛️ Ambiance: Modern standalone building with semi-private booth seating for each table. Filled with traditional jar decor, paper lanterns, soft lighting—elegant and flattering. Tables are spacious—room to eat comfortably and relax. 🍽️ Food: High-quality, fresh ingredients. Seasoning is light but precise—enhances without overpowering. 🥗 Banchan (side dishes) are fresh and tasty—especially loved their pickled mustard greens, sweet and savory, unlike any I’ve had elsewhere. 🍲 Seafood porridge – A delicate starter. 🥩 Beef carpaccio – Inspired by Italian carpaccio but with Asian flavors, wrapped in shiso threads—so good! 🍜 Cold noodles – Ultra-thin Angel’s hair noodles in a clear, authentic broth—no artificial taste, loved it! 🍮 Almond tofu with soybean powder – Lightly sweet, not cloying. ☕ Cinnamon tea – A sweet, warming finish—perfect for a damp Christmas day. 💁 Service: 10/10 I usually order à la carte, not sets. The hostess listened and said, “What you want is actually in this set—smaller meat portions but more variety.” She added up my à la carte choices on the spot to compare prices (they were close), and said: “I really want you to try more of our dishes.” That won me over—what a genuine, lovely noona! We went with the $75/person set—great value. The grill attendant was also attentive and kind—when I asked about a side dish, she offered me an extra portion. Later, a handsome “uncle-style” server described a green laver & scallion dish in Korean (I often get mistaken for Korean 😄). When he overheard me joking about it in Chinese, he came back and explained again in English—so thoughtful! Staffing here is ample—service is timely, attentive, and proactive without needing to ask. Dropped chopsticks? New ones appeared before I could call. In the US, this level of service is truly rare and cherished. A genuinely happy meal—balanced meat with plenty of veggies, healthy and delicious. Some starred places leave you unsure—this one, no star yet, left me warm, satisfied, and completely content. #OCEats #KoreanBBQ #BuenaParkFood #KyungBokKung #ServiceGoals #HappyMeal #FoodieJoy
