Half-Day Tour: RISD + Brown University
✅Just across the bridge lies the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where we coincidentally caught a pre-college student art exhibition. ✅For lunch, we stopped by the nearby Den Den Cafe — their bibimbap and tofu stew were authentic and satisfying. 🔶After the meal, we leisurely made our way up to the Brown University campus: Van Wickle Gates 📒A symbolic entrance opened only during opening and graduation ceremonies. The gates were built in memory of Augustus Van Wickle, a 19th-century coal industrialist and Brown alumnus. 👉Sayles Hall One of the oldest academic buildings at Brown, donated by trustee William Clark Sayles in memory of his son who passed away at a young age. 📝 John Carter Brown Library An independent library housing an extensive collection of Americas and colonial-era documents from the 15th to 19th centuries. 📝It was established through the generosity of the John Carter Brown family — renowned local merchants, publishers, and collectors. #RhodeIsland #BrownUniversity #Providence
