Halifax | Fairview District Food Adventure 🇪🇹
Aster Cafe 📍3556 Dutch Village Rd, Halifax, NS B3N 2S2 Overall, the food was surprisingly delicious! 🎉 I thought I might not enjoy it, but turns out, I totally did—plus, the prices were super reasonable. 😊 The auntie running the shop was absolutely adorable and so warm-hearted! ❤️ She kept checking if we liked the food and if we needed anything, even saying, "Treat me like your mom—ask me anything!" 😂 So, so sweet! My friend and I ordered a Qey Wot and Beef Tibs, but the auntie served them on the same plate (family-style vibes!). We also got a pot of Buna (Ethiopian coffee). ☕ The menu’s at the end if you’re curious! Qey Wot: Tender beef slow-cooked with Berbere spice blend, served with a hard-boiled egg that you can mash into the sauce. 🥚🍖 I didn’t find it spicy at all—just rich and flavorful! Beef Tibs: Small beef cubes stir-fried with onions and bell peppers. 🌶️ A bit on the oily side, but still tasty—though not as amazing as the Qey Wot. Injera (🫓): The sourdough flatbread had a slight tang when eaten alone, but once you scoop up the stews with it, the sourness balances out perfectly! 🤤 P.S. The auntie served our coffee after we finished eating because she warned us it was extremely bitter and might ruin our appetite if drunk too early. 😂☕ Smart move! #InternationalStudentEats #StudentFoodie #HalifaxFood #HalifaxLife #Halifax #HalifaxDining #StudyAbroadEats #HalifaxRestaurants #HalifaxLiving #HalifaxFoodie #HalifaxStudentLife #WhatToEatInHalifax #FoodAdventure #EthiopianFood #HiddenGems
