Harvard Yard 🏛️🍃
My two favorite buildings in Harvard Yard are absolutely magical! ✨ 1️⃣ Annenberg Hall – The most famous student dining hall! 🍽️ Its exterior showcases Victorian Gothic architecture 🏰, while the interior features soaring vaulted ceilings, pointed arches, and stunning stained-glass windows depicting Biblical stories. It feels just like stepping into Hogwarts from Harry Potter! 🧙♂️📖 2️⃣ Widener Library – Massive and grand, every corner radiates nobility and history. 📚💫 Built in 1915 with a $1 billion donation (in today’s value) from Eleanor Widener in memory of her son, Harry Widener, who tragically passed away on the Titanic in 1905. 🚢💔 She set three unique conditions for the donation: Harvard must never alter the library’s exterior appearance. A replica of Harry’s personal study must be built inside—only two people may enter: the librarian and the spirit of Harry. 🔑 Every Harvard graduate must pass a swimming test to graduate (inspired by Harry’s fate on the Titanic). 🏊♂️ The swimming requirement was ended in the 1970s due to disability rights laws. 📜🫶 Walking through Harvard Yard feels like wandering through history, magic, and legacy all at once. 🌟🧡 #HarvardYard #HarvardUniversity #IvyLeague #CampusLife #History #Architecture #Travel #StudentLife 🎓📸
