he Healing Seaside Town of Torquay π
After surviving a crazy week of assignments, I finally made it to Agatha Christie's hometown! This quaint little town comes with its own soundtrack - strolling around made me feel like the protagonist in an indie film (probably thanks to that angelic live singing from a street performer π΅). π΄ Lunch: On The Rocks We each ordered a starter and main. For starters: squid ink risotto and mussels cooked in cider with smoked bacon - both surprisingly amazing (by UK standards)! The mussels were particularly special with that unique sweet-smoky flavor. Highly recommend! For mains: braised pork ribs and catch of the day fish. The fish was fresh and delicious while the ribs were slightly heavy. The only miss? That mint-pea purΓ©e - what a weird combo... π° Β£30 (choose 2 from starter/main/dessert) β 4/5 π¦ Ice Cream: Marshfield Farm As a mint choc chip enthusiast, I approve their version! Creamy and refreshing. π° Β£2.20 β 3.5/5 π Attraction: Cockington Village A 30-minute uphill walk from Torquay station leads to this storybook village. Honestly? Slightly disappointing. The thatched cottages were picturesque but the place felt eerily quiet (bad timing maybe?). Almost everything was closed - couldn't even try the famous ice cream! Final Thoughts: Torquay remains undeniably charming - perfect for a slow-paced, therapeutic escape. But summer is definitely prime time: livelier atmosphere, open attractions, and... a Ferris wheel! π‘ #Torquay #UKBeach #HiddenGem #StorybookVillage
