Travel is not just about seeing the scenery. 🌸🍃 When you travel with an understanding of the historical and geographical background, you can gain so much more! 🌟 📝 The History of Heian-kyō It's well-known that Japan has always been a big fan of the Tang Dynasty. From the 4th year of Emperor Taizong's Zhenguan era (630 AD) to the 1st year of Emperor Zhaozong's Qian Ning era, Japan sent a total of 19 missions to Tang over 264 years. 🌸🍃 This allowed Tang culture and Buddhism to spread widely in Japan. 🌸 In 794 AD, Emperor Kanmu, a fan of Emperor Taizong of Tang, moved the capital to Heian-kyō (⚠️Note: Heian-kyō is not the same as Kyoto). 🌸🍃Emperor Kanmu, influenced by the Tang Dynasty, deliberately modeled the new capital after the two Tang capitals—Chang'an and Luoyang. 🏰 #Kyoto 🌇
