Helsinki, Finland | Red Rose and White Rose 🌹🤍
📍After dinner yesterday, we boarded a cruise ship and headed north across the Gulf of Finland. Two and a half hours later, we arrived in Helsinki, where the night wind was sharp and cold. Exhausted, I quickly freshened up and collapsed into bed, sleeping soundly through the night. 📍After visiting the Rock Church, we continued to explore the White Church and the Red Church. These are the cinnabar mole and the white moonlight of the Finns, with architectural features of the Greek Corinthian columns and traditional red brick structures, and religious denominations of Orthodox Church and Christianity (Lutheran), respectively. 📍Interestingly, in the central square of the White Church stands a bronze statue of Emperor Alexander II, who ruled Finland during the Russian Empire era, built in 1894. That Finland has kept the statue of a former ruler without toppling it reflects a nuanced emotional world of the Finnish people, which is intriguing to ponder. #FinlandTravel#HelsinkiTravel
