📍 Restaurant Name: Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster Company 🏠 Address: 36 Main St, South Freeport, ME 04078 This is an absolute local favorite—tucked right by the harbor, and cash-only (don’t forget to bring bills!). It was my first time trying soft-shell lobster 🦞! While the meat isn’t as plump as hard-shell lobster, it’s incredibly tender and sweet. Sometimes lobster tail meat can get stuck in your teeth, but soft-shell lobster tail is just smooth and delicate all the way through—so delicious 😋! We saw other customers digging into big buckets of clams, so curiosity got the best of us, and we ordered a dozen steamed clams too. “Fresh and sweet” is the only way to describe them—they were amazing 👍! Just a quick tip: remember to peel off the thin black membrane on the clams, otherwise you’ll get a gritty texture.😍😍😍 Their lobster roll is all about “no frills, just quality.” There’s barely any seasoning—no heavy mayo, no extra salt, even the bread has almost no buttery flavor, and the lettuce is just for garnish. The lobster meat itself is in huge, juicy chunks, though after tasting the fresh whole lobster and clams, the roll felt a little underwhelming. It can’t compare to the bright, natural sweetness of fresh-cooked seafood—but to be fair, it’s still way better than most lobster rolls you’ll find elsewhere.😍😍😍 The real stars here might be the blueberry pie and blueberry ice cream 🫐—they’re all about “generous, honest flavor”! The blueberry pie is packed with plump, juicy blueberries, and you can tell the filling is homemade. The blueberry ice cream has a rich blueberry taste, with a strong creamy milk flavor too (it sounds like an odd combo, but it works!). Most importantly, neither is overly sweet—total game-changer for anyone used to super-sugary American desserts! Is it because Mainers prefer natural flavors? Either way, we absolutely loved these treats 😍! This might have been our favorite meal in Maine—we’re already planning what to order when we come back next time!
