Hidden Gem Town Near Boston - Portsmouth
Highly recommend Portsmouth! I had no idea that such an amazing town was just an hour’s drive from Boston. It’s incredibly peaceful yet bustling in just the right amount. This week happened to be the Memorial Day holiday, and the streets were filled with families coming here to relax and vacation. ⚓️ To Do: A must-visit is the Strawbery Banke Museum! It was way beyond expectations! It’s a very special immersive museum, and the staff are super friendly and enthusiastic. It’s hard to describe everything, but you’ll likely visit a restored historical site, tour homes as they once were, encounter NPCs living in that time period, and hear the staff passionately narrate the stories of each house. In short, we will definitely go back. (We didn’t know the ticket could be used for two consecutive days, otherwise we could have taken our time over two days.) There are also other activities to see, like a bicycle tour, kayaking, and wine tasting, which seem very interesting for next time. 🛍️ To Shop: With the square market as the center, there are tons of shops selling various groceries, clothing, and artworks nearby. Each shop has its own charm. You can shop till you drop. There are also street performers playing various instruments, including bagpipes and hand organs, creating a fantastic atmosphere! 🍽️ To Eat: We’ve tried Elephantine Bakery, 5 Thai Bistro, and The Kitchen. All were quite good, with no disappointments, and the portions are huge! #Boston #EastCoast #USAtravel #DayTrips
