Honest Review: Lechon in Portland
I visited Portland during Thanksgiving for a food tour and decided to try Lechon—a spot with tons of rave reviews 🦃. Overall Verdict: The cocktails are fantastic, but the food isn’t as amazing as the hype. Booking a reservation ahead is worth it if you want to eat here, but waiting in line for over 30 minutes? Totally unnecessary ⏳. I ordered three cocktails, and Queen Anne Revenge is a must-try—it’s flavorful and perfectly balanced 🍹. Foraged Mushrooms: They tasted decent, but at $18, they’re overpriced. The portion was tiny, which made the cost even harder to justify 🍄. Grilled Octopus: This dish is way overrated. The octopus texture was exactly like the frozen, ready-to-eat kind from Costco—I swear they must source it there 🐙. Shrimp Ceviche: Highly recommended! The shrimp was tender, the portion was huge, and paired with crispy chips, I couldn’t stop eating it. At just $14, it’s the best value on the menu 🦐. Lomo Saltado: The beef was too salty and not very tender, but the rice cakes that came with it were delicious—crunchy and full of flavor 🥩. Clam Chorizo Pasta: The squid ink pasta was a nice surprise! The chorizo wasn’t salty, the clams had no sand, and while the pasta was a bit soft, the portion was generous 🦪. Lava Cake: The pistachio ice cream tasted homemade—no artificial bright green food coloring, just a natural nutty flavor! The warm, oozing chocolate cake with the ice cream is classic American dessert: one bite gives an instant sugar high, but it’s so satisfying 😌. #Portland #PortlandFood #PortlandLechon #ThanksgivingEats #FoodieReview #CocktailLovers
