Hooked on Rice and Tofu Balls, Enamored with Braised Tofu in Soup
I ventured out for the breakfast special served on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM, but ended up falling for the lunch menu. My fellow Jiangsu and Zhejiang friends were quite satisfied 😊 Dishes to Try and Avoid: 👍🏻 Braised Tofu in Soup The soup with tofu skin, bamboo shoots, and salted pork is aromatic and not too heavy. It’s so fresh it could make your eyebrows fall off. Served in an excellent heat-retaining clay pot, it stays at the perfect temperature throughout the meal. This was my favorite dish of the day. 🥣 👍🏻 Fried Rice Cake The rice cakes are soft yet chewy, mixed with some cabbage and shredded meat, cooked with a touch of light soy sauce. It’s the classic home-style fried rice cake taste. 🍚 👍🏻 Stinky Tofu I just realized this year how much people from Jiangsu and Zhejiang love stinky tofu. I’m not very good at appreciating this type, but it had a texture similar to solid frozen tofu, and the accompanying kimchi was quite innovative. 🍢 👉🏻 Radish Shredded Cake, Date Paste Cake The date paste filling is very fragrant. Personally, I think radish would be more harmonious as a Cantonese dim sum style radish cake rather than a cake. It’s a dish you can try if you have the stomach for it but can skip otherwise. 🥧 👍🏻 Moss Strips and Pork Floss Glutinous Rice Balls 👎🏻 Sweet Glutinous Rice Balls, Salted Glutinous Rice Balls Most of us were drawn here by the promise of rice balls. We tried all three: the moss strips and pork floss had the most layers of flavor, with seaweed, pork floss, and crullers; the salted ones had pork floss filling, and the sweet ones had crullers and peanut bits. I’d recommend just going for the most flavorful one. 🍙 👎🏻 Fried Crullers Although they were freshly fried, they were a bit overdone. I prefer crullers that are fluffy and crispy right after frying. 🥐 👍🏻 Soy Milk It’s fresh soy milk, with a bit of unfiltered soybean residue at the bottom, but overall quite rich and aromatic. 🥛 #SeattleWeekend #Seattle #SeattleDailyLife #ComeExploreWithMe #FoodExploration #WeekendFoodExploration #ThisIsWhatIBreakfastLooksLike #Breakfast #WhatToHaveForBreakfast #TreasureSweetShopShare #SeattleLife #SeattleFood #SeattleFoodExploration
