How can Montreal be so delicious?!

Just between us, I think it’s even better than Paris. Here’s a roundup of my seven-day food adventure: 👏 Mon Lapin Ranked #2 on Canada’s Top 100, I only managed to snag a 9 PM reservation a week in advance. This cozy bistro blew me away—celery and sea urchin with an unusual but amazing flavor, scallop mousse sandwich crispy outside and tender inside, clams packed with garlicky goodness, and tender squab. Plus, an outstanding Riesling! 👏 Parapluie My friend’s #1 pick in Montreal. Fully booked, but we got lucky with walk-in seats right at opening. Solid classics with a creative twist: salmon with mustard was perfectly balanced, beef tartare (which I usually avoid) was exceptional, lobster with runny egg was rich and decadent, and the scallops with cauliflower and garlic cream sauce were flawless—how did they roast that cauliflower so perfectly?! 👏 Monarque Classic French with layered flavors and a hint of herbal notes. While the famous escargot with bone marrow fell flat for me, the duck confit, foie gras terrine, and seafood bouillabaisse were all stellar. 👏 Pichai This Thai restaurant is a must! I was skeptical about flying to Montreal for Thai food, but no regrets. Spicy, tangy, and perfect for summer. The raw scallops, pork neck, and duck offal salad were all incredible, and the shaved ice dessert was a knockout—though the hyped Thai milk tea tiramisu paled in comparison. 👏 Ratafia An amazing dessert bar (with savory options too). The raspberry dessert with radish was refreshing and unique. Cocktails were just okay, though. 👏 La Panzeria Focaccia + freshly sliced ham + figs + burrata + olive oil + honey = perfection! The Sunday-only pasta was skippable. 👏 Le Passé Composé A viral brunch spot famous for its foie gras Benedict—and it actually lives up to the hype! The waffle was great too. 👏 Crêperie du Marché Delicious crêpes inside Jean-Talon Market, which is worth exploring on its own. 👌 La Banquise A must-visit for poutine lovers. Tons of topping options, generously loaded. Even as a non-poutine enthusiast, I enjoyed it. 👌 Gibbys The only slight letdown. Not bad, but just a standard steakhouse—no need to go out of your way. If you must, the lunch deal is better than dinner. 👌 Schwartz’s Similar to Katz’s in NYC. The smoked meat sandwich was a bit dry for me, but my friend loved their poutine. Order delivery if you can—no need to queue. 👏 St-Viateur Who knew Montreal’s other iconic food is bagels? Sweeter and more fragrant than New York’s, and even though I usually dislike sesame seeds, they work magic here. #Montreal #MontrealFood #FoodieAdventures
