I Ate the Best Roast Fish and Tiramisu of My Life in Venice!
Trattoria ai Cugnai dal 1911 Just a 2-minute walk from the Accademia Bridge, this place has over 2000 reviews and a 4.6-star rating. It opens at 12 PM, and by 12:30, it’s fully booked with a waiting list. I wasn’t very hungry and initially wanted to order just a pasta dish and a tiramisu, but the waiter insisted I add something else. I’m so glad I listened because the roast fish was incredibly delicious! 🐟 🐟 Daily Fresh Roast Fish 💶22 This was the most expensive item on the menu, but the prices here are quite reasonable. We had sea bass, though it varies daily. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The fish was large, tender, and juicy. Only a tiny part of the back had a slight fishy taste, but the rest was completely free of any off-flavors. The skin was incredibly aromatic and crispy—so good I can’t stop thinking about it! However, the downside was that the bottom layer of the fish skin had a bit of a burnt taste and wasn’t edible. The dish also came with lots of vegetables, which was a great way to get some vitamins. The waiter brought over pepper, salt, and olive oil when the dish was served. 🧁 Tiramisu 💶6 Oh my gosh, why is Venetian tiramisu so incredibly delicious? It keeps topping my list! My husband thinks this one is even better than the one we had from the old man two days ago. I’d say it’s tied for first place with the small piece we had on the first day. The presentation was beautiful, and the coffee liqueur flavor was very strong. I’m sensitive to caffeine, and I could feel my heart racing after eating most of it. It was decorated with whipped cream flowers, probably from a cream gun, but it tasted great. (When we left at around 1 PM, there was only one piece of tiramisu left in the restaurant. I wonder if they restock later.) 🐙 Squid Ink Pasta 💶17 At first, I thought the pasta was a bit undercooked and hard, but it grew on me. It had a strong seafood flavor, and the octopus (I’m not sure if it was octopus) was very fresh. My husband loved it, but I thought it was just okay because I’m not a big fan of seafood. I preferred the squid ink pasta at Fried Land for €7.5, even though I suspect it might have been made with tomato sauce instead of real squid ink. (Maybe I’m just a picky eater.) 🍷 Service Charge: €1.5 per person. The service was excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised by the low service charge. 🥰 I’m craving it all over again. Who says Venice is expensive and the food is bad? Venice is incredibly delicious and beautiful!!!!!! Even my casual photoshoots turn out amazing. Every bridge is stunning and photogenic! So far, it’s my favorite city in the world (except for the expensive boats; even the public water buses cost €9.5. I understand it’s because of the high number of tourists, even in the off-season, the buses are always full). 😊 If you want to avoid the crowds, explore the area around the Accademia Bridge. It’s the most beautiful part of Venice and less crowded. I walked through many narrow alleys filled with local residents and adorable dogs. It was so peaceful and full of life. #Italy #Venice
