I only recommend one dish at this izakaya in Boston
đ” Judyâs Bay: Cambridgeâs Fusion IzakayaâTwo Dishes Steal the Show This fusion-style izakaya has been on my list forever, and I finally checked it out after catching Emma Stoneâs Poor Things nearby. (P.S. Shoutout to Cambridgeâs Landmark Kendall Square Cinemaâcloud-soft seats, spacious theaters, easy parking. 5/5!) But back to the food: Judyâs Bay is a mixed bag. Only two dishes are worth your timeâskip the rest. đ The Only Must-Orders Matcha Ice Cream: đŠ A fellow matcha fan called this âBostonâs best,â and I agree. Itâs not soft-serve (Fenwayâs Maiko still reigns there), but this dense, creamy version is stellar. The matcha flavor is balanced (not bitter), and the toppingsâcookie crumbs, red beans, mochiâare perfectly portioned, never overshadowing the tea. So good, someone in our group finished it despite cramps. Special Tuna Rice/Handrolls: đŁ The daily special saves the meal. It comes with various cuts of tuna (different fat levels), rice, and noriâroll your own handrolls, as many as you want. The tuna is chopped but still tender and buttery, with that melt-in-your-mouth richness. Great for sharing. đ The Letdowns Sake Flight (Classic): đ¶ Hit-or-miss. Everlasting Roots tastes like Chinese baijiu (strong, fiery), Wandering Poet is our favorite (crisp, slightly tart), and Kikusui is forgettable. Everything Else: Seared scallops, sweet ribs, cauliflowerâall just âfine.â No standout flavors, no reason to order them again. âš Verdict Judyâs Bay isnât a must-visit. But if youâre in the area, go for the matcha ice cream and tuna handrollsâtheyâre the only reasons to linger. Budget Score: 3/5. Skip the mediocre mains, and itâs manageable. đ Judy's Bay 279a Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139 #BostonIzakaya #CambridgeEats #MatchaLovers
