I Watched the Beautiful Moon Rise 🌕✨
It must have been that once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip that brought us to this area to savor more of what makes San Antonio the capital of Tex-Mex cuisine. I’ve heard neighbors near Bolner share decades of stories about this small, rustic yet well-preserved stone restaurant — a place where they must sell a ton of tortillas every year.✨ Freshly fried triangular tortilla chips served with warm homemade salsa were rich, flavorful, and utterly addictive. A dozen or so chips made the earthy brown beans and sun-gold cheese scattered across the pointed edges look like a royal offering on bone china. Jalapeño slices added a spicy kick, truly elevating these triangular delights.❤️ If I had to name this dish and suggest a few alternatives, I’d call it “The Compadre.” Everything on this plate paired with me perfectly. This is how I’d describe the enchiladas… one beef, one cheese. Soaked in a glorious bath of cheese, enchilada gravy, and bean sauce, they lay like logs submerged in a flooded forest, two tubes devoured in bliss. Even better, the taste took me back to the tacos we ate on Wednesdays in public school — the beginning of a lifelong obsession.🧀 Why don’t rice, beans, fluffy tacos, and tortillas bring the same delicious thrill? They’re all good! The only thing that really shouted for attention in this meal was the tostada. Topped with Himalayan-sized piles of tomato, lettuce, and cheese over a layer of bean paste, it demanded another tank of oxygen to climb and a maxed-out calorie burner to make room in an already-full stomach! Once again, Styrofoam came to my rescue.✨ After that lunch, I officially became a Blue Moonenthusiast! 🌮🧀🔥 #TexMexHeaven #SanAntonioEats #FoodMemory #EnchiladaLove #TostadaTower #ComfortFood #TexMexObsession #LocalGem #FoodieAdventure #MoonlitMeals
