In Joburg, the restaurant I visited twice is... | The Big Mouth
On my last night in Johannesburg, I revisited The Big Mouth. All photos are unedited originals. 📍 Address: Shop No 13 & 14 of Nelson Mandela Square, Corner Maude & 5th St, Sandton 🚖 Transport: Uber to Nelson Mandela Square, or take the free shuttle from Sandton hotels 🍣 Cuisine: Sushi & Grill 🍝 Recommended Dish: Seafood Pasta 🍤🦑🐚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I came back mainly for this dish! The seafood includes prawns, squid, shellfish, and white fish, cooked with tomato sauce and wine—absolutely blew us away! However, the prawns weren’t as fresh on my second visit, slightly affecting the taste. 🍙 Recommended Dish: S.U.V Sushi 🍣 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a great choice because it’s a sampler platter, featuring tempura rock shrimp, California salmon rolls, and more. Other sushi options include Chicago and Rainbow. 🥩 Recommended Dish: Rib Eye / Sirloin on the bone 🥩 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Always go for Medium (5/10) or Medium Rare (3/10)—overcooked steak ruins the experience! 🌮 Other Dishes: Tuna Taco Slider, Green Salad The tacos were bite-sized and forgettable. ❗️ Tip: 1L of Still Water costs 78 ZAR (~31 RMB). Better bring your own! The English menu has no pictures, but the staff can recommend dishes if you’re unsure. Overall, The Big Mouth is delicious—I’d definitely visit a third time if I return to Joburg. Give it a try! 💸 Price: First meal: 1,314 ZAR Second meal: 1,014 ZAR Plus 10% tip (optional) ~330 ZAR per person (~132 RMB) #Johannesburg #JoburgEats #JoburgTravel #NelsonMandelaSquare #MandelaSquareEats
