In Slovakia! A Day Trip & Food Galore
From Vienna to Bratislava: A Day Trip and a Feast After landing in Vienna and picking up the car, I headed straight to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, just 70 kilometers away. Surprisingly, despite living in Europe, I had never heard of this capital before this trip (I took a moment to feel ashamed of my lack of knowledge).😀😀😀 Compared to its neighbors, Budapest and Vienna, Bratislava has a much lower profile. The few notable attractions include Bratislava Castle, the Blue Church, the UFO Bridge, and the Main Square. It feels like choosing the best among limited options. Fortunately, I scheduled it as the first stop, and I only had one day there.😍😍😍 Sights and Attractions: - Bratislava Castle and its exhibits - Street-side shops with abstract art displays Food and Dining: Despite the limited attractions, the food was quite good. The prices were more affordable than in Germany, and the dishes were delicious. We had three main meals, all of which were enjoyable. Two were Italian (a safe choice if you're unsure what to eat in Europe), and one was a specialty roast goose and goose liver from a nearby village. This deserves special mention. The village, called Slovenský Grob, is about 20 kilometers from Bratislava. A good friend recommended it, saying it's impossible to get a table during the Christmas season, and even in the off-season, reservations are necessary. For three of us, we ordered two soups, one portion of goose liver, and half a goose. Surprisingly, we couldn't finish it all. It wasn't because it wasn't delicious. The goose liver was perfectly cooked, as you can see in photo 7—it melted in your mouth and left a lingering aroma. However, it was quite greasy. After finishing 200 grams of goose liver, we knew we were in trouble and wouldn't be able to finish the feast. When the roast goose arrived, served with special buttery pancakes, it was fragrant, but we simply couldn't eat any more. The restaurant we dined at is called PIVNICA U ZLATEJ HUSI.😻😻😻 Goose Liver and Goose Soup After a satisfying meal, we took another stroll around the square in the evening to digest our food. The first day ended beautifully. Nighttime Square #Bratislava #RoastGoose #GooseLiver #BratislavaTravel
