Indianapolis|Mt Fuji — A Refined Japanese Dining Experience! 🍣✨
Sharing a great Japanese restaurant in downtown Indy — Mt Fuji! It’s one of the better spots I’ve tried recently in terms of quality. The location is right in the heart of downtown, just a short walk from the Soldiers & Sailors Monument. Street parking is available nearby at around $1 per hour. 🚗💵 The interior is bright and modern with stylish lighting — not the old-school izakaya vibe. It’s best to go early; we arrived a bit late and missed out on items like uni (sea urchin), which was already sold out. Here’s what we ordered: 🍢 Mt Fuji Skewers: A grilled skewer appetizer — surprisingly tasty! You can choose beef, chicken, or pork. We went with beef. The flavor felt familiar… almost like it was inspired by Chinese seasoning 😂. $11.95. 🦪 Kumamoto Oyster: Ordered four of these. Surprisingly sweet and fresh, even though they were on the smaller side. Very refreshing! $3.75 each. 🍙 Toro Handroll: We originally wanted toro sashimi, but it was sold out, so we got the handroll instead. Still delicious — the toro was rich and buttery. $9 each. 🥩 A5 Wagyu: Thinly sliced A5 wagyu… okay, real talk — skip this one. It was just okay, mostly fatty without much wow factor. They even added edible gold foil (a bit unnecessary tbh). Our serving was also slightly cold, which didn’t help. $19.50. 🐟 Sashimi Regular: A sashimi platter with salmon, tuna, and more. The fish quality was noticeably good — fresh and well-selected. Much better than Asaka’s (which always tastes freshly thawed 😅). For larger groups, go for the Deluxe version. $28.50. 🍣 Ace Roll: A delicious roll with salmon, tuna, tempura crab, cucumber, and eel sauce — complex flavors and expertly rolled. Beautiful presentation. Highly recommend! $19.99. 🌯 Spicy Salmon Roll: By this point we were almost full, but we tried this simple roll — still solid quality. $8.75. We also ordered two cocktails 🍸, priced around $10-20 each. A bit expensive — decent but not mind-blowing. Overall, Mt Fuji offers good ingredient quality, a nice atmosphere, and friendly service. The downtown location means it’s not cheap — our total came to around $80 per person including tip. I saw online reviews saying $20-30 per person… yeah, that’s almost impossible 😂. I’ve attached a photo of the menu for reference! 📋 Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🦃🍁 #PurdueUniversity #Indianapolis #JapaneseFood #Sashimi #SushiLover #IndyEats
