Indianapolis|Travels in Indiana
When I first arrived in Indy, to be honest, I didn’t have high expectations. On the way from the airport to the Airbnb, all I could see were endless fields of golden corn. We passed through the city briefly, and some buildings were still under construction—my travel buddy even said it kinda felt like a “ghost city” vibe 🏗️😅. But since we were already here, we decided to give the city a chance... and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise! This is a small, quiet, and laid-back city with a relatively small population. Although it’s not a famous tourist destination, the streets are clean, there aren’t many homeless people, and police officers and patrol cars are everywhere downtown 👮🚓, making it feel very safe. Even women traveling alone can comfortably enjoy a city walk here. (Personally, I think it’s much better than downtown Seattle!) Most of the major attractions are clustered together, making it easy to explore at a relaxed pace in just one day 📍📸. Our first stop was downtown. Recommended spots: Soldiers & Sailors Monument Christ Church Cathedral Indianapolis Artsgarden Circle Centre Mall Indiana State Capitol Building If you have extra time, check out the nearby University Park for a touch of academia 🎓🍃. Parking 🅿️: Blue Lot — $12 for the day. Our second stop was the Central Canal. This is a beautiful canal walk with plenty of attractions along both banks—super relaxing 🚶♀️💧. Highlights: Indiana State Museum (with a fascinating steam clock at the entrance ⏰🚂) Eiteljorg Museum along the way Totem Sculpture (perfect for photos!) Parking 🅿️: White River State Park — $3/hour. Lastly, don’t miss the Indianapolis Zoo! It combines an aquarium and a zoo into one massive experience—you can easily spend a whole day here 🐠🦁🐘. #TravelingWithMyCamera #ACityIsABook #Travel #Fujifilm
