๐Ÿœ Indianapolis | Tian Fu Asian Bistro

Went to Costco in Indy for supplies and decided to try this Chinese restaurant recommended by locals โ€” Tian Fu Asian Bistro ๐Ÿฅข. Thought it was Sichuanโ€™s โ€œTian Fuโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚. The menu is full of the ownerโ€™s personal recommendations! ๐Ÿฎ Ambience: The restaurant has traditional Chinese decor with a classic vibe ๐Ÿฏ. Lots of locals dining here โ€” even saw a birthday celebration! ๐ŸŽ‰ The open kitchen with glass walls is a highlight ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ”ฅ: you can watch the chefs wok-tossing with skill and see how clean everything is. ๐Ÿฅ— What We Ordered: Appetizer: Wild Pepper Wood Ear Mushroom ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ„: A refreshing starter perfect for hot weather. Huge portion with green/red peppers and pickled wild peppers (probably canned). Simple, tangy, and spicy โ€” highly recommended! ๐Ÿ‘ Main Dishes: Dry Pot Fish ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ”ฅ: Fish is fried first then cooked in a spicy dry pot style. Tender inside, served with bamboo shoots, mushrooms, wood ear, and konjac. Kept warm with a charcoal heater โ€” but eat quickly to keep the crispiness! Stir-Fried Pork Kidney ๐Ÿง…๐Ÿ–: Northern-style โ€” no strong smell, but a bit overcooked (lost its tenderness). As a Sichuanese, Iโ€™m used to spicier versions ๐Ÿ˜…. Soup: West Lake Beef Soup ๐Ÿฅฃ๐Ÿ„: Northern-style with minced beef, mushrooms, soft tofu, pepper, and salt. Thickened with starch and egg whites. Topped with sesame oil and green onions (could use more greens for color ๐Ÿ˜ฌ). Still, it was delicious and the first dish we finished! Vegetable Dish: Stir-Fried Three Mushrooms ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿฅ•: Light and healthy โ€” includes king oyster, shiitake, and wood ear mushrooms with carrots, snow peas, and green peas. Simple mushroom flavor โ€” perfect after heavy dishes! ๐Ÿ’ต Price: We ordered a lot (total ~$75 ๐Ÿ’ฐ). Normally, 2 main dishes are enough for two people. Average dish: $10โ€“20. Per person ~$30. ๐Ÿ“ฆ Leftovers: We packed the mushrooms and dry pot fish โ€” portions are generous! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ Open Kitchen: Loved watching the chefs cook each dish fresh โ€” not like some places that serve everything all at once ๐Ÿš€. ๐Ÿ“ Location: Just 2 minutes from a Costco โ€” great for combining grocery shopping with a meal! ๐Ÿ›’๐Ÿš #Indianapolis #PurdueEats #ChineseFood #FoodReview #OpenKitchen #IndyFood #CostcoTrip ๐Ÿฅข๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿ“ธ
