🏰 Inuyama Castle One-Day Ultimate Guide 🏰
If you're visiting the central part of Japan and find Nagoya a bit dull, set aside a day for Inuyama Castle. You can have a leisurely visit, and four to five hours will be enough. There's even time to check out the popular Big Buddha with sunglasses that's all over the internet. ❤️ Must-Visit Spots: 🎏 【Inuyama Castle】 As one of Japan's Five National Treasure Castles, how could you miss Inuyama Castle! The original name of Inuyama Castle was Hakutojo, inspired by Li Bai's poem "Bidding Farewell to the White Emperor in the Morning." Compared to the Three Gorges, the landscape here is much more delicate, but it's one of the top castles in Japan. Especially when you climb to the top of the donjon, the interwoven landscape of mountains and rivers is well worth the visit. 🍵 【Yurakuen | Ruo'an Tea House】 A solo trip to Inuyama, with the fragrance of grass and moss drifting in the drizzle. Enjoying tea at the national treasure-level tea house, Yurakuen, inside the Indigo Hotel is very pleasant. 🎎 【Yamaguruma-kan】 You can see four mountain carts here. Every year, on the first weekend of April, there is a parade of 13 mountain carts during the Inuyama Festival. 🥢 Must-Eat: There are many places to eat and drink in the castle town. Lunch or afternoon tea can be enjoyed here. 🥩 【Nikuhei】 Just buy a Hitoyoshi beef two-way meal, which includes a serving of raw beef sushi and a serving of charcoal-grilled beef roll. 🍡 【Honmachi Chaya】 It's a good place to sit down for tea when you're tired. Seven different flavors of skewers paired with matcha. 🧁 【Cocotomo Farm】 If you like coffee and sweets, be sure not to miss this place. 🪭 Tour Route: There are three options to start from Nagoya. Take the Meitetsu Limited Express from Nagoya Station towards Shima-Utsunomata. 🚞 Get off at Inuyama Station, and return from Inuyama-guchi Station. 🚞 Get off at Inuyama-Yuen Station, and return from Inuyama Station. 🚞 Board and alight at Inuyama Station. I chose the second route this time to visit the national treasure tea house, Yurakuen, inside the Indigo Hotel. It felt a bit boring along the way after getting off, and it would have been better to get off at Inuyama Station. A half-day in Inuyama is enough for a visit. Depart from Nagoya after 10 a.m., return in the evening, and also take photos of the Big Buddha. 1️⃣ After getting off at Inuyama-Yuen Station, first visit the 【National Treasure Tea House Yurakuen】 in Indigo for photos and tea or visit 【Meiji Village】. 2️⃣ Go up the mountain to visit Inuyama Castle. On weekdays, there's basically no need to queue to climb the donjon. But try to avoid weekends when visiting Inuyama Castle, as there might be a queue. 3️⃣ After coming out of Inuyama Castle, you can visit the 【Haritsuna Shrine】 for safe childbirth, the 【Sankou Inari Shrine】 for love and wealth, and the 【Saruhiko Shrine】 for traffic safety and business prosperity. 4️⃣ Then, follow the castle town below Inuyama Castle to find food. You can also rent a kimono for a costume change. The 【Yamaguruma-kan】 is also a worthwhile spot to visit. 5️⃣ Finally, take the train back to Nagoya from 【Inuyama Station】. 6️⃣ If there's time on the way back, you can stop by to visit the popular Big Buddha with sunglasses on the internet, and see what the Big Buddha looks like without sunglasses (Picture 10). #MyOffTheBeatenPathTravelGuide #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #JapanFreeTravel #JapanTravel #JapanTravelGuide #JapanTourism #NagoyaTravel #TravelDiary #NoFilterTravelGuide #Vacation
