The Old Imperial Hotel Main Building (1)

Architectural Beauty and Japanese Elements The design of the Wright Pavilion was inspired by Japan’s Byōdō-in Phoenix Hall. 🌿 🌏 The building extensively used Japan’s unique Oya stone. 🌋 This type of stone is soft and lightweight, as well as exceptionally fire-resistant and easy to process. 🌟 🌏The entrance pillars of the hotel were modeled after traditional Japanese lanterns. 💡 The entire structure combined various materials like tiles, scored bricks, and carvings to create a rich decorative visual experience. 🌸 It’s worth noting that there were two types of scored bricks used in the building: the original bricks from the initial construction and the bricks used for later restoration. 🌏 ▪️ Wright’s Legacy Even though the physical building has vanished, Wright’s exploration of architectural art and integration of Japanese culture continue to influence future generations. 🌏 🌏 His architectural style, unique and blending nature with culture, is exemplified by the Wright Pavilion. Even with only the entrance remaining, it’s enough to convey the irreplicable charm of his creative spirit. 🌟 📍 9-5 Uchiyama, Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture 📷 RICOH GR2 #TravelWithXiaohongshu 🌿 #JapanTravel 🌟
