Irvine's New X Fish Izakaya — Full Review 🤔
Was pretty excited when I first booked — finally an AYCE Japanese spot with lots of choices and good value. Originally had a reservation for Saturday, March 23 at 8:30 PM. That night at 7:50 PM, they called to cancel our booking because they "ran out of fish" 🐟❌ They offered to reschedule for us (said only they could do it), so I asked for the same time the following week. Ordering is done via QR code menu — but the interface is plain, with no appealing photos. The menu that day didn’t match their advertised items — the pass-around menu changes daily. Also, the omakase plan’s limited sushi went from 14 pieces down to 9 😕 The limited sushi was decent though — fresh and tasty. Then we tried the regular sushi — and here’s where it got shaky. The fish didn’t feel very fresh. Didn’t think ordering ramen was worth it either. Luckily we chose the omakase plan — otherwise there wouldn’t have been much worth eating. Came in with managed expectations after checking Yelp reviews — just wanted to try it out. Hopefully they’ll improve staff training and operations going forward. (Note: It’s a Korean-owned Japanese restaurant.) Next time, I’ll just tough it out and head to Fishy Fishy’s parking lot 🅿️ instead. #Irvine #Sushi #XFish #AYCE #AllYouCanEat #LosAngeles 🍣🤷♂️
