π Irvine New Find β 949 BBQ is Actually THIS Good?! π±
Went to Irvine to visit friends recently and stumbled upon 949 BBQ. As a Northeasterner with a serious obsession for grilled skewers, I had to give it a try β and wow, what a pleasant surprise! The place seems newly opened, with a super unique vibe β space-themed decor mixed with Terracotta Warrior accents ππΏ, edgy and eye-catching the moment you walk in. They have plenty of hearty dishes like bullfrog, but I wasnβt brave enough for that, so I stuck to skewers and stir-fries. Letβs talk skewers β real charcoal-grilled! The beef and lamb were tender and aromatic with cumin, straight off the fire and totally irresistible. Also loved the grilled bread brushed with sugar β simple but so good.ππ The grilled chicken skin and mushrooms were tasty too. For stir-fries β you have to order the Guo Bao Rou (sweet & sour crispy pork). Let me say it three times: Legit. Authentic. Delicious! Probably the closest to authentic Northeastern-style Iβve had in LA.ππ Turns out the chef is from Northeast China β no wonder it tasted so spot-on! Overall, great ambiance and even better flavors.
