Izakaya Tora – So delicious, I love it, and I’ll definitely be back!
We’re back for Japanese food again—it was amazing, so naturally, happiness follows! ☺️ We ordered a sea urchin & tuna bowl, sweet shrimp and salmon sashimi, a udon noodle dish, a few yakitori skewers, and a 10-piece sushi omakase plate. The place is called Izakaya Tora, and after tax + tip, it came out to around $150 per person. The sashimi and sea urchin were super fresh—sweet and delicious with great texture! 🍣✨ The presentation was also beautiful! The sea urchin udon was absolutely mind-blowing—so good! If you love sea urchin and rich, creamy flavors, you’ll adore this dish. 🍜🧀 A few downsides: the miso soup was too salty for my taste—not recommended. The yakitori was just okay—I’d give it a 75/100. Another con: it’s located on the west side, which is pretty far from me… but hey, whose fault is that? 😅 Some say that a $150 omakase (pre-tax) in LA is “low-end” and you can only expect a certain level of quality. I don’t agree—since when did omakase automatically mean “luxury and expensive”? 🤔 If simply adding the word “omakase” allows a restaurant to charge prices that don’t match the quality—and then tries to silence criticism—that’s just self-censorship. Over time, this kind of attitude lets mediocre offerings push out genuinely good ones, which is both ridiculous and sad. At least in my opinion, if I’m paying for it, I have every right to share my thoughts and experiences. 💬 #JapaneseIzakaya #Yakitori #JapaneseFood #EatTheWorld #LosAngeles #LALife
