🚄 Japan Self-Guided Tour Transportation

First time in Japan, wanted to explore both Kanto and Kansai, so chose the Tokyo-Kamakura-Mt. Fuji-Kyoto-Osaka route. But I spent a long time puzzling over the transportation for the middle part of the trip. Many guides suggest staying in Tokyo initially and then planning day trips to Kamakura and Kawaguchiko. There are two downsides to this approach: 1️⃣ The cost of one night's accommodation in Tokyo is much higher than in Kamakura and Kawaguchiko. 2️⃣ Round trips will take more time. So, I researched various transportation methods before the trip and ended up smoothly crossing Japan without taking the same route back 🙌 📱 Preparation: Adding a Transit Card Highly recommend Apple users to add Suica, the watermelon card, to their wallet in advance, which can be topped up with UnionPay before leaving the country. I tested and confirmed it's usable. Except for purchasing two bus tickets online and one Shinkansen ticket offline, you can basically use map navigation for routes and card swiping at the gate for the entire journey. While other tourists are still lining up in front of the machines, you can stride confidently into the station 🙂‍↔️ 📍 Tokyo-Fujisawa-Kamakura If you're staying overnight in Kamakura, you can choose to stay in Fujisawa. Fujisawa Station (Fujisawa Station) is a on the way from Tokyo to Kamakura. Take the train from Tokyo to Fujisawa, drop your luggage at the hotel, and then head to Kamakura by bus or train, or take the Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden) to visit the attractions in order. It only takes about half an hour to return to Fujisawa in the evening. 📍 Fujisawa-Kawaguchiko A big step to reduce travel time - direct bus from Fujisawa to Kawaguchiko. The bus leaves at 07:45 every morning and takes about two hours. 1️⃣ Go to the Fujikyu Bus ticket purchase website, register an account, select Kanagawa as the departure and Yamanashi as the destination, and then select the departure date. 2️⃣ Find the Fujisawa-Kawaguchiko direction train, click to book. You can book one to two weeks in advance. You don't need to pay when booking. You will receive an email confirmation upon successful booking. #Travel #MyOffTheBeatenPathTravelGuide #TravelGuide #Japan #JapanSelfGuidedTour #JapanTravelGuide #JapanTravel #Tokyo #Fujisawa #Kamakura #Kawaguchiko #MtFuji #Kyoto #KamakuraToMtFuji #MtFujiToKyoto #JapanBus #TokyoToOsaka
