There are several breathtaking spots in Japan that are not in Kyoto, and are humorously referred to as places that are more "Kyoto" than Kyoto itself. 1️⃣ Narai-juku: Step into a bygone trade town ①📍 Nagano Prefecture, Shiojiri City, Narai ②🚗 Transportation: 🔶 You can take a local train on the JR Chuo Main Line to Narai-juku. 🔶 From Tokyo's Shinjuku Station: Take the Azusa Limited Express to Salt Shio and transfer, the journey takes about 3 hours. 🔶 From Nagoya: Take the Shinano Limited Express to Kiso-Fukushima Station and transfer to a local train, the journey takes about 2.5 hours. ③🌈 Sightseeing 🔶 Narai-juku is not in Nara, it's located between Kiso-Fukushima and Matsumoto, and is one of the best-preserved post towns on the Nakasendo Trail. 🔶 Stroll through the charming streets filled with the atmosphere of the samurai era. 🔶 Visit the roadside well called Mizu-ba, which offers pure spring water for travelers. 🔶 Explore the exquisite mural on the ceiling of Jozenji Temple. 2️⃣ Magome-juku: Experience the charm of 17th century Japan ①📍 Gifu Prefecture, Nakatsugawa City ②🚗 Transportation: 🔶 It's most convenient to start from JR Nagoya Station to Magome-juku. 🔶 From Nagoya: Take the JR Chuo Line's Shinano Limited Express to JR Nakatsugawa Station.
