Japanese Food in a Korean Plaza – Kazoku 🍣 | Edmonds Hidden Gem!

I was hanging out in Edmonds and randomly searched for nearby Japanese restaurants on Google Maps 🗺️. Kazoku popped up with over 300 reviews and a 4.6-star rating ⭐—looked pretty promising, so I decided to give it a shot! When I arrived, I noticed the entire plaza was basically covered in Korean signs 🇰🇷. Walking into the restaurant, I saw 4 or 5 tables, and all the customers were white people 🧑👩. A little voice in my head went “uh-oh” 🤨—I couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy, worrying if the Japanese food here would be authentic. But guess what? After the food came out, both the presentation and taste were surprisingly good 😋! Turns out, prejudice is totally unwarranted—never judge a restaurant by its location or clientele! 🍱 Bara Chirashi Bento If you’re someone who loves sashimi, this one is NOT recommended ❌. The portion of sashimi is really small, which might disappoint you. However, if your focus is on the bento itself—a little bit of everything platter—then it’s okay. It has a mix of different dishes, so you can taste a variety of flavors in one meal. 🍚 Sanshoku Don The portion size isn’t huge (check out the comparison with my hand in Figure 5 🤚), but it makes up for it with Hokkaido uni 🦪! The ratio of ingredients is well-balanced, and at $30, I think the cost-performance is pretty good 💰. Every bite with uni is rich and briny—super satisfying! 🍮 Age Dashi Tofu This was a total surprise 🤩! The tofu was perfectly tender yet firm—just the right texture. The broth was full of umami flavor, not too salty, and warmed my stomach nicely. It’s a simple dish but done exceptionally well! Overall, if I’m ever in the area again, I’d definitely choose to come back 🥰. It’s a hidden gem in Edmonds that’s worth checking out, especially if you’re craving Japanese food nearby! #Seattle #SeattleArea #SeattleFood #EdmondsFood #JapaneseFood #Kazoku #SeattleFoodie #HiddenGem #SushiLovers #SeattleEats
