Jerusalem City Walk Guide
Here are two of the most worthwhile areas to explore: 🌟 French Hill – Home to the Hebrew University and its surrounding neighborhoods, this area sits at one of the highest points in Jerusalem. It offers excellent panoramic views of the Old City, rivaling those from the Mount of Olives. 🌟 Givat Ram – This area houses the Israel Museum and the Bible Lands Museum. Nearby, you’ll find the stunning Givat Ram campus of the Hebrew University, as well as the Knesset (open for tours), the Supreme Court, and other key government buildings. It’s considered one of the best-planned areas in West Jerusalem. 🌙 Jaffa Street – This historic route once connected the Old City to the port of Jaffa. Today, it runs alongside the light rail line, stretching from the Mamila shopping district just outside Jaffa Gate to the Mahane Yehuda Market. This stretch is one of Jerusalem’s most commercially dense areas. While the urban landscape may not differ much from European cities, its history is relatively shorter. You can make a quick stop at the City Hall Square along the way. 🌙 Mahane Yehuda Market – A great place to soak in the local social atmosphere. Due to Jerusalem’s city tax, prices here are generally higher than in Tel Aviv. The market also features a number of mid-to-high-end bars and restaurants. A similar vibe can be found in Tel Aviv between the Camel Market and Jaffa. From Mamila southward to the First Station (the old train station), you’ll find several luxury hotels and the U.S. Embassy. ✨ Just south of Mamila, the YMCA Tower offers a great observation point. Located across from the hotel where U.S. presidents stay, it provides a sweeping view of the upscale neighborhood nearby. ✨ Continuing south to the First Station area, there are small exhibitions and museums worth visiting. From there, heading west through the German Colony leads to Rehavia, known as the neighborhood “where all the cool people live.” Prime Minister Netanyahu’s private residence is also located here. ✨ Along Gaza Street (the road leading toward Gaza), there are several bars. This area represents one of the highest quality-of-life zones in central Jerusalem. #Jerusalem #Israel #CityWalk #Travel
